So in the last two days I have attempted to buy an iPhone. Between two different Apple stores I have been turned away for lack of inventory. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! I don’t have a huge amount of experience in retail or sales but I think there is one simple principle that anyone selling anything to anyone should live by.
DON’T LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMER!!!!
If you don’t have inventory in stock, don’t advertise that you have it to sell. The hottest item going for Apple is the iPhone. You would think that they would keep the inventory up so they didn’t have to turn customers away. Especially customers who have been anxiously waiting to purchase said product. Customers who have converted entire families to become "Apple" people. Customers that leave frustrated and irritated.
The problem for me is that I’m not mad enough to restrict myself from purchasing the iPhone tomorrow. I’m not important or powerful enough for Apple to give a rip. So I will suck it up, wait another day, and satisfy my purchasing desire later.
